I was originally a Chemical Physicist, specializing in Physical Chemistry of interfaces, but gradually I drifted to the "Dark Side" and became a professional physicist by joining the IOP.  I have also worked as a professional computer programmer for a bioinformatics company, so I have a unique skill-set, with experience in Materials Science, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Programming as well as the Physics and Chemistry.
My research interests used to concentrate on Surface Science and development of instrumentation. However in the last decade I have concentrated on pedagogy and Physics Education.
