Short Bio
John was educated in the U.K. and received his first degree from the University of London in Physics, and his Ph.D. in 1974 from the University of Manchester in the field of Experimental High Energy Particle Physics. He has published over 60 refereed journal articles in that area working with international collaborations in OPAL and ATLAS.
He joined the faculty of Carleton University in 1982 and has served as Chair of the Department, acting Dean of Graduate Studies, Associate and Interim Dean of the Faculty of Science, and has been on the Board of Management of both Carleton University and TRIUMF, Canada’s National Lab. He received Carleton University’s Research Achievement Award in 1994 and received the Faculty of Science Teaching Award and Carleton University’s Teaching Achievement Award in 1999.
