Standard Technique (1D)

In the standard technique the joint probability distribution function is determined from the product of Monte Carlo 1-dimensional distribution functions
\begin{displaymath}
P(\vec{x}) = \prod_{i=1}^N p(x_i)  .
\end{displaymath} (1)

When the measurements, $\vec{x}$, are strongly correlated, this can be a poor approximation.
