Members of Dave Rogers' group within the Carleton Laboratory for
Radiotherapy Physics group are listed below.
- Dave W. O. Rogers
- Elsayed Ali
Ali is a Ph.D. student in the group. His project
is on accurate unfolding of photon spectra of clinical
linacs from transmission measurements and from depth dose
measurements. Ali obtained his M.Sc. in medical physics
with the CLRP group as well. His M.Sc. thesis title
was "making the EGSnrc/BEAMnrc system more efficient,
accurate and realistic in simulating kilovoltage x-ray
systems". On April 30, 2009 Minister of State for Science
and Technology Goodyear and the heads of Canada's 3
granting agencies announced the inaugural winners of the
Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships. Ali won one of these
scholarships, and was one of three winners to be asked
to make an address.
- Bryan Muir
Bryan joined Carleton in 2008 after obtaining his BSc from
Trent University that same year. For his PhD project he is working on ab initio Monte Carlo calculations of
the beam quality conversion factor, kQ, needed for external beam
reference dosimetry. The results of his first paper have already been
adopted by an AAPM task group and will be recommended for clinical use.
- Justin Sutherland
Justin started at Carleton in 2008 after receiving his
MSc from McGill University that same year. Justin is doing
his PhD applying the BrachyDose code to clinical cases of
brachytherapy. His first paper investigated the beam quality
absorbed dose sensitivity of EBT radiochromic films. His
second paper demonstrated the error in assuming breast tissue
is a uniform mixture of glandular and adipose tissue.
